Global Tax Management (GTM) is the largest firm in the Mid-Atlantic region that focuses exclusively on delivering corporate tax services to mid-size and large multinational, public, and Fortune 500 companies. For more than 20 years, GTM has provided the expertise to build, operate, and manage tax department functions for its clients.

GTM made a decision to implement NetSuite OpenAir to support their initiative to streamline their business processes and improve the efficiency of their business operations. 

Solution

Global Tax Management engaged Top Step in a trusted advisor capacity to provide expertise and guidance and support the deployment of their NetSuite integrated OpenAir system and ensure project success.

As part of the project, Top Step participated directly in all customization workshops specific to OpenAir to validate requirements, design outcomes and provide insight, and guidance on configurations that directly supported unique GTM specific workflows. Top Step reviewed OpenAir system configurations and the NetSuite integration design flow on behalf of GTM to verify the overall system setup would provide optimal support of the GTM business process. Top Step also helped GTM establish the user acceptance test (UAT) plan, including building test cases, validating system readiness for testing, and ensuring UAT participants were prepped and appropriately trained to execute test case scenarios successfully. Top Step provided guidance for determining an appropriate data migration plan and helped validate migrated data accuracy in preparation for go-live activities.  

In addition, Top Step served as the lead architect to review the unique business needs of GTM that could not be satisfied through the standard OpenAir system.  These requirements included the automation of splitting fixed fee revenue transactions based on time incurred by users, requiring attachments on expense report submissions, and copying custom URL links from client records to invoices created for those clients. Top Step designed and built three OpenAir scripts to support these requirements and lead the implementation behind all scripting efforts as part of the project deployment. 

Results

The OpenAir PSA solution implemented with Top Step oversight and expert guidance gave GTM the assurance their OpenAir system would support their business model and achieve their goals.  Top Step stepped in as the trusted adviser with the business knowledge and deep expertise of OpenAir, allowing GTM to get the most out of their OpenAir PSA system with customizations through OpenAir scripting that supports their business process.
