SuiteProjects Pro Project Recalculation Optimization

Large projects can take longer to update when every task is recalculated after a change. SuiteProjects Pro now includes an optimization that limits recalculation to only the affected tasks, improving performance and responsiveness.

By default, when a task is created, duplicated, deleted, modified, moved, or copied, the system recalculates all tasks associated with the project. This can increase processing time, particularly for projects with a large number of tasks.

When Recalculate only new or modified tasks and dependent setting is enabled, the system identifies the tasks impacted by the change and recalculates only those tasks.

Example

If you change the planned hours for a resource assigned to a specific task, the recalculation includes:

  • The task that was modified.
  • Any successor tasks that are affected by the change.

Recalculation does not include other unrelated tasks in the project.

The performance improvement applies to the following project views:

  • Project List
    Projects > [Select a project] > Phases/Tasks > List
  • Project Outline
    Projects > [Select a project] > Phases/Tasks > Outline
  • Project Gantt
    Projects > [Select a project] > Phases/Tasks > Gantt

This targeted approach reduces the amount of work required during recalculation and helps improve overall system performance.

Summary

The feature improves project performance by reducing the scope of recalculation. Instead of recalculating every task in a project after each change, the system identifies and recalculates only the tasks affected by the change and their relevant successor tasks.

This optimization helps reduce processing overhead and improves loading and response times when working with project tasks in the List, Outline, and Gantt views.
