Three Easy Navigation Tips for NetSuite OpenAir
Check out these navigation tips and tricks to optimize your usage of NetSuite OpenAir.
Using the Back Button
Did you know that most records opened via a list view in NetSuite OpenAir have a back button that will take you back to the original list? For example, if you open a project from the Projects – All list view, the back button/arrow will appear to the left of the project name. When you are finished viewing/modifying the project, click the back button to return to the original list view from where you first opened the project record.

Other records that display the back button when opening from within the list view include Invoices, Timesheets, Customers, and Users.
Opening Links in New Tabs
NetSuite OpenAir uses JavaScript for the menu bar on the left of every page, so you cannot right-click on a module button directly from this bar to open it into a new tab as you could in the past.
Instead, left-click the module button first to open the list of available options and then right-click on a link within the list > Open Link in New Tab.
You can also right-click on any other links in OpenAir to open them in a new tab; for example, if you need to look into 10 separate projects from a list of project records.
*Bonus tip: Most mice with middle buttons or scroll wheels are configured such that clicking on a link with the middle button/scroll wheel will automatically open it in a new tab, saving you several clicks!
NEW Global Search Functionality
As of the 2024.2 release (rolled out to all production accounts on October 12, 2024), NetSuite OpenAir now has a global search feature that is accessible via the red magnifying glass button at the top right of every page.
Click the button and type a few characters into the search bar to quickly navigate to a specific customer/project/user record, a “create” request (e.g. create a new timesheet, expense report, or leave request), or other navigation menu item such as a list view (e.g. Projects – Open) or settings page.
