Rate Multipliers for Special Situations in OpenAir

In OpenAir there is an easy way to create billing rules that include situations for varying rates for weekend work, yearly increases, or for remote versus onsite work rates.

Important: these rules may not be compatible with billing rules created from NetSuite Sales Orders.  Please work with your NetSuite Administrator to understand complexity.

Weekend Work

Using a time billing rule, you would update the Daily rate multiplier section as appropriate.  This multiplier will work against any of the billing rates (hourly/daily).

Yearly increases

If there is a stipulation in your MSAs or SOWs that your rates will increase by X% on an annual basis then you can set your date ranges on your rules to bill accordingly during the time frame.  Once you have the first rule setup simply clone it and update the dates through the duration of the contract terms.

Remote versus Onsite work

This situation can be setup in a variety of ways.  Using time types is the simplest from a setup and administration standpoint.  In this case we use “remote” and “onsite” time types.  To appropriately bill the time types will require the use for billing rule filters on time types.

Time types require the end user to select a value on their timesheet.  Then based on the time type selected the billing rule filter will drive out the appropriate rate.

Clone the billing rule, select the other time type and associate the appropriate rates.  This methodology allows for simpler billing rule and project task setup.
