Optimize KPIs with the New SuiteProjects Pro Home Screen
SuiteProjects Pro has been enhanced with a new Home Screen for even more targeted and actionable views than before. For this Expert Quick Tip, we will create a report and action list to display on the new Home Page.
Note: To activate the new Home Page, you must submit a ticket via SuiteAnswers requesting the feature.
Step 1: Build a Dashboard Report
First, we’ll design a report to utilize in the new Home Page. Since we are building this for a Pie Chart, we will need a single summary line. We do not need filters, because the Portlet options will allow us to display the top 5 results. This example is a simple Client : Invoice > Balance Total, Inception-to-Date report.
We’ve named it “Delinquent Invoices by Client” :
Step 2: Customize the (New) Home Page
Next, navigate to your new Home page by going to Home > Home (New) and you can Personalize the three-panel screen to focus on Lists, Reports, and Charts as needed per your firms KPIs.
Click “Personalize View” to start:
We can edit our regions. The Primary region allows for up to 10 Lists/Reports/Charts segregated by Tab, and we can have 1 List/Report/Chart for the secondary regions (Smaller).
In this instance, we’ll set up the Secondary Content Region 1 to be a chart for our new Top 5 Delinquent Customers report. Add a “Chart Portlet” to the region by clicking the “Edit” button:
Once you save, you’ll see the Home Page refresh and you will notice a “Set up chart portlet” button:
Step 3: Setup the Chart Portlet
Once you click “Set up chart portlet”, you may define the chart type, the report, and how many values you want to include, as well as naming it and giving it a subtitle for a short description:
Once we click “Save” we now have a quickly digestible KPI that allows users to immediately target specific Customers in this use case!:
Step 4: Set up an Action List
If we want to use a “List” Portlet, we need to define a Column (List view) and a Filter to be used in the Portlet. This standardizes the view across users and leaves nothing up to question for consistency and fast-action lists.
In this example, we’ve created a Filter for “Dunning Targets” that only shows Balances > $0, and Invoices >30 days old.
We’ve also added critical-only columns for the KPI list, and sorted by Balance (Descending) which we’ve saved with the same name “Dunning Targets”:
Step 5: Add the List to your Primary Portlet
Click Personalize View again, and you can add another tab to your Primary Portlet by clicking Edit:
This time, we want a List Portlet. Lists have the advantage of drill-in linking over Reports when it comes to Portlets. Reports will respect your same Quickview settings, but depending on how you build the report, will not link to records in real-time the way Lists do. In this example, we’ve chosen List Portlet for Invoice linking for this reason.
When you save, a new Tab will appear on the Primary Content Region, which has no data yet. We’ll click the Tab and choose “Set up list portlet”:
Since it is a List portlet, we can choose (like Charts) to display the top X number of results, but we can also choose the List Layout (Columns/Sorting) as well as the List Filter. We gave it the same name, so we’ll choose “Dunning Targets” for both, and again, give it a Title/Subtitle for quick understanding of the KPI Targets.
Step 6: Execute your KPI goals!
We now have a dashboard that highlights critical, actionable items for our users. In this use case, a Billing Manager is able to quickly and easily identify customers and invoices that need special attention, without any further digging, on one screen!
